So, you have a defective system? Before you begin to panick, here is some good news - Dell can send you a replacement system absolutely free!
Ok, so they won't just hand it to you, but it's covered under your Dell warranty. Step 1: Call Technical Support- Ask them what your warranty covers (before you tell them the problem).
- Ask them about repairing a defective system under warranty.
- Tell them what is wrong with your system.
- They will get you to perform troubleshooting - play along.
If after the troubleshooting has been done and it does not solve the issue, ask them to replace your system because it is a hardware defect. The technical agent will automatically try to convince you otherwise. They are trained to save Dell money from customers like you! But, it is your right to have a functioning system so do not back down. If you are not getting anywhere with the agent, ask to speak with a supervisor. Explain your situation again, and inform them that you are covered under the hardware warranty for a replacement. The good news is that if you are a new customer (system is less than 3 months old) they will bend over backwards to keep you happy! However, if you own a 1 year old dell with a warranty that will expire in a few weeks - don't count on it! Step 2: Call In Numerous Times To Customer Care- Make compaints on the level of service you are getting
- Explain to customer care that you have been calling technical support with no resolution
- Tell them you want this issue resolved as soon as possible.
- They may escalate your case to management or the escalation team.
- Last resort: Advice them you may contact the better business bearu or your lawyer.
By this time, you should have already gotten your system exchange set up. They will try to give you a refurbished system or refurbished parts and say it's good as new. There is no way around this because it states in the warranty that Dell has the right to repair or replace with refurbished parts. There you have it....you have your new system (or refurb). Wasn't that easy?
